The bombing campaign that began on Feb. 28 has killed thousands and led to retaliatory attacks on US allies and energy assets. Oil and gasoline prices are way up, supply chains have been upended and airport closures in the Middle East have disrupted air travel worldwide. Meanwhile, US travelers are contending with a partial government shutdown. Agents for the Transportation Security Administration missed their first full paycheck last week, the result of a monthlong standoff over funding for the Department of Homeland Security. By law, TSA workers will get back pay when the shutdown ends, but many have responded by calling in sick. The result has been exceedingly long lines. This week on the Everybody's Business podcast, hosts Stacey Vanek Smith and Max Chafkin talk about the frustrated travelers contending with waits that have stretched several hours. They also discuss the continued fallout from the Epstein files with Businessweek columnist Deena Shanker, as well as the challenges of contemplating retirement amid so much uncertainty with Yale Budget Lab economist Martha Gimbel.
